No Hands
Cover design, art direction
No Hands is a set of three football photography books about the FIFA World Cup by Ryu Voelkel. Combining the highlights and drama of the World Cup with the subtler details and moments that capture the spirit of the beautiful game, Ryu tells the story of the 2014, 2018 and 2022 tournaments in Brazil, Russia and Qatar in his unique way.
My role in this project was to design an iconic cover that fit the theme of photography and football, with an eye towards making it replicable in the even that the book becoming a series, which it inevitably did. The use of a circle represented both a ball and a camera lens, which was adapted to the host country of each tournament.
